Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kiva Container qualified to supply aerospace packaging?

Yes. Kiva Container is AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified. Our certification scope covers the design, fabrication, and shipment of custom aerospace packaging. We supply aerospace primes, tier-1 suppliers, and defense electronics manufacturers. Our quality system includes material traceability, lot documentation, documented inspection procedures, and revision-controlled packaging procedures — the documentation requirements most aerospace customers require from their packaging suppliers.

What types of aerospace packaging does Kiva Container make?

We build thermoformed component trays and carriers, ESD-safe aerospace packaging, Class A laminated dividers and partitions, returnable and reusable shipping containers, integrated tray-in-box aerospace packaging systems, and large-format corrugated packaging for oversized components. Both thermoforming and corrugated plastic fabrication are in-house at our Anaheim, CA facility.

Can Kiva Container provide Class A surface packaging for aerospace?

Yes. We fabricate Class A laminated aerospace packaging using Tyvek, Spunguard, and crushed polyester laminated surfaces. These are used for cosmetically sensitive finished assemblies, precision optics, and parts where direct material contact with the packaging surface is not acceptable. Lamination is applied in-house.

Does Kiva Container make ESD-safe aerospace packaging?

Yes. We build ESD-safe aerospace packaging using conductive plastic corrugated, conductive thermoformables, and static-dissipative PVC. Our ESD-safe packaging designs follow ANSI/ESD S541. Common applications include avionics component trays, mission electronics shipping containers, and sensor module carriers.

Can Kiva Container make aerospace packaging for very large components?

Yes. Our large-format CNC router handles sheet sizes up to 120 inches by 75 inches. This covers oversized aerospace packaging applications including nacelle components, large electronic enclosures, and assembly fixture trays that exceed standard packaging form factors.

Who makes AS9100D certified packaging in Southern California?

Kiva Container is AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified and manufactures custom aerospace packaging in Anaheim, CA — the heart of Southern California’s aerospace corridor. We serve aerospace primes, tier-1 suppliers, and defense contractors throughout Southern California and ship nationally.

Does Kiva Container support first article inspection for aerospace packaging?

Yes. We support first article inspection (FAI) for aerospace packaging. Our quality system includes documented inspection procedures, material traceability, and lot records that support FAI packages. We can provide material certifications and dimensional documentation as required by your quality system.

What materials are used in aerospace packaging at Kiva Container?

For thermoformed aerospace packaging: ABS, polycarbonate, conductive polymers, static-dissipative PVC, and ESD acrylics. For corrugated plastic aerospace packaging: corrugated polypropylene from 2mm to 10mm, conductive corrugated plastic, and corrugated with Class A laminated surfaces. Material selection is driven by part geometry, ESD requirements, surface sensitivity, and the number of trips the packaging needs to survive.

What is the minimum order for custom aerospace packaging?

We build to order. There is no published minimum — we regularly support prototype quantities for development programs and first article qualification, as well as production runs for recurring shipments. Call us at 714-630-3850 to discuss your program requirements and timeline.

Does Kiva Container build integrated aerospace packaging systems — tray and box from one supplier?

Yes. Integrated aerospace packaging systems are a core capability. A thermoformed component insert, a corrugated outer container, internal dividers, and dunnage — all designed together and supplied from one facility. Single-source integrated aerospace packaging simplifies your approved supplier list and gives you consistent quality documentation from one QMS.
